Final Words

As the echoes of Ohero:kon Under the Husk initiation ceremonies fades we stand in honor of our youth who have journeyed through this transformative experience. They have worked hard to be grounded in a deeper understanding of our traditions, personal resilience, and community values. This sacred rite continues to nurture the connection between generations, preserving the rich culture of our Haudenosaunee teachings.

The youth carry forward the torch of wisdom and strength inherited from our ancestors. Nieces and Nephews are now entrusted with the responsibility of embodying these teachings in their daily lives, the lessons of Ohero:kon ripple outward, influencing not only the hearts of those who walked its path but also the collective spirit of our community. This sacred cycle, where the past meets the future, lays the foundation for calling our children home, to be strengthened in our cultural pride that will endure throughout their lives.

And so, with each generation, the sacred flame of Ohero:kon burns brighter, lighting the way for others to reclaim and celebrate our ways of knowing. Together, we build a world where the wisdom of our Onkwehonweneh’a shines as a beacon, reminding us of who we are and the enduring legacy we are tasked to protect.
A big nia:wenkowa to all who made this a memorable year.
